Geelong coach Chris Scott has acknowledged that Cats key forward Mitch Clark overstepped the mark with an on-field sledge regarding the girlfriend of teammate Mitch Duncan.

But Scott says Clark's indiscretion was at the minor end of the scale and as such did not warrant any punitive action from the club or the AFL.

"I understand that part of the story is that there's a division among the players at Geelong (but) I can categorically say that is not true and that's coming from the horse's mouth," Scott said on Wednesday.
