In his recent new book, former Geelong coach Mark Thompson has stated that Nathan Ablett, the brother of Gold Coast and former Cats star Gary Ablett Jnr, could have been as good as North Melbourne champion Wayne Carey.

Ablett struggled to get any continuity in his game playing just the four seasons and retiring at the end of the 2007 season, before spending one year at the Gold Coast Suns in 2011.

The now 30 year old played in the Cats 2007 premiership alongside brother Gary, where he played 32 games and kicked 47 goals.

His one year at the Gold Coast Suns was nothing more than disastrous, playing just the two games and kicking the one goal before being delisted at the sad age of 25.
